While some companies are just now adding their stations to Home Speaker platforms like Amazon's Alexa, Federated Media was an early adopter. In fact Federated Media was the first company to build an Alexa skill, and put its radio stations on the platform, about a year ago. Five Cumulus stations, all in South Carolina, are fined for similar reasons. They failed to keep their public files up to date, and got caught when applying for a license renewal. Stations must certify that all of the required information is in the Public File when filing for a license renewal. Salem Media Group announced on Thursday that Mike Blakemore, PD for WFSH-FM in Atlanta, has been appointed to the new position of VP Programming for all of Salem's Contemporary Christian Music stations. Blakemore has been PD at WFSH for 10 years. Prior to that he served in programming roles in Knoxville, Des Moines, and Champaign, IL. [read more]
 
Michael Fournier is the new PD for Norfolk Hip Hop station 103 JAMZ (WOWI) and R&B station 92.1 The Beat (WHBT). He'll also host middays on 103 JAMZ. Fournier has been APD for 103 JAMZ for many years. He began his career at the station over 18 years ago as an intern. He also helped launch 92.1 The Beat in 2015. [read more]
 
 
WAY Media Network Chief Content Officer Faron Dice has announced that CJ Lusk has been named new afternoon co-host,  joining Joy Summers for CJ and Joy on WAY-FM. This is Lusk’s first stint in Christian radio, but he comes to WAY-FM with over 15 years of radio experience. [read more]
 
Five original, weekly programs will focus on business, sports, entertainment, and health. The shows will be hosted by personal finance expert Suze Orman, attorney Jim Steyer, sports photographer Andrew Bernstein, producer Todd Garner, and health food experts Michelle Davis and Matt Holloway.   [read more]
